Beat Influence: Humble the Poet

Humble the Poet is a Punjabi rapper from Canada and raps mostly about injustices happening around the world. Although the beginning of song targets Obama, that's really not the message. It's about questioning authority because authority is always lying to us and this message directly comes from the Beat Generation and Post Beat. It amazes me that the influence of this generation keeps going through the decades and across cultural divides. He raps about everything I've read so far during the course of this class from questioning authority at every level to consumerism and mammon-ism. And of course towards the end of the song, the background music changes to "Imagine" by John Lennon so the influence is quite obvious there. Enjoy!
